"Conversations with Christ"
Pastor Kevin Hilton
Mary saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying. And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing {there,} and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (which means, Teacher). John 20:12-16
Mary was seeking Christ with all her heart, nothing or no one else would suffice. Even the sight of angels would not minister to her aching heart. She wept under the thought that others may have taken away her Lord. Yet, as the Savior spoke her name she turned. She turned physically, no longer looking for hope in dead places (the tomb). She also turned in an emotional state, from grieving her tears turned to joy. Jesus’ call turned her frustration of unanswered questions to find answers from her Teacher. Most importantly, she found that no one had taken Him from her at all. She turned to find in fact, He had risen!
Seeker of Christ, with questions unanswered, all who feel estranged from the sovereign grace of God, heed to the testimony of Mary. Take note that answers lie in His call. Know with certainty, joy comes in the morning. Look no longer for the hope that died unborn, but turn to see all hope in your risen Savior. Paul wrote, “Who can separate the love of God from those He has called?” No one, not even one’s self, can take Jesus away.
Hear His voice speaking to you, as you seek him with all your heart. Settle for nothing less, but hear your name spoken from His lips. He will turn your life around.
God Bless, Pastor Kevin Hilton
